Enterprise social network with MediaWiki
Increase exchanges and productivity, switch to enterprise 2.0 with acorporate social network in the form of a wiki
By setting up a corporate wiki with MediaWiki, an open source and free software, you will also create a de facto corporate social network by allowing your employees to:
- Discuss on a dedicated page the content of each wiki article
- Create their own page grouping their contact details, their skills
- Follow the modifications of certain pages of the wiki
- Follow the contributions of certain colleagues
- Be notified by email when a page is modified
- Share documents, links, articles, best practices...
Your corporate social network will become much more than an internal communication tool.
Fine management of user rights
You can configure your wiki so that it is as open as possible or, on the contrary, for internal company wikis, it can only be modified by certain people.
Examples of possible configuration of modification rights from the most liberal to the strictest:
- Free edition including by anonymous visitors
- Editing by registered users
- Editing by registered users who have provided a valid email address
- Editing by registered users for some time
- Editing by users belonging to a certain group
- Edit only by administrators
Features of reading and validation of modifications can also be implemented, at the end of an edition a notification may appear indicating:
- that the page has not been proofread;
- that a modification has been made but that it is not yet validated, only the last validated version then appears.
Examples of groups within an enterprise social network
- Anonymous visitor (not applicable to private wikis)
- User: user with an account without modification rights but who can follow pages and customize their preferences
- Contributor: user with the right to modify unprotected pages
- Administrator: contributor having the right to modify all the pages of the wiki
- Bureaucrat: user with the right to change other group users
- Host: person having access to the server files and in particular the configuration file LocalSettings.php
