Knowledge Base Overview
Operation
The knowledge base (or wiki) is a collection of collaboratively written articles. Each article can be linked to several themes and tags. The classic hierarchical data structure (folder/subfolder) is thus abandoned to move to an organization based on "structured data".
Objectives and benefits
One of the objectives of the database is to free users from the mass of emails exchanged between colleagues and to communicate directly on a single platform so that they no longer waste time with knowledge scattered on multiple media - emails, office documents.
In addition, gathering knowledge within a single platform makes it possible to make it consistent to detect missing, contradictory or obsolete information.
Features
Versioning
View the different versions of each article, unwanted changes with a single click (depending on the rights). Display the differences between two versions of the same page. Revert to any previous version. |

Collaborative proofreading of digitized works in order to make them accessible in full text (for example to make ebooks or to allow search in the text): example of Wikisource
The technology used: MediaWiki, free and open source wiki software...
Our wikis all use the software MediaWiki (also used by Wikipedia) and several of its extensions including Semantic MediaWiki and Visual Editor.
The free software and its extensions allows us to offer you ever more competitive prices compared to solutions based on paid software.
In addition, Wikipedia, which technically depends on MediaWiki with its huge community of volunteer developers, is a guarantee of the sustainability of the MediaWiki software and the maintenance of its quality. Indeed the risk of open source is that the number of developers decreases and that the project is abandoned.
In addition to being widely used for public projects, many companies or organizations such as NATO, NASA, Intel or VistaPrint use it internally, it is called a private wiki.
... With many free extensions
The Maps extension displays personalized, interactive maps on your wiki pages.
This extension allows you to use the power of Elastic Search within a wiki and thus benefit from an improved full-text search (also called full-text search or free text search): management of accents and proposal of terms close to the query in particular.
Echo allows you to receive notifications following different actions: deleting a page, creating a link, receiving a message...
